We met as colleagues at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY), a $2BN non-profit home healthcare provider and Medicare/Medicaid payer where Michael was the Deputy CIO, and Sankar was the Director of IT – Business Partnerships. While working on an ambitious, multi-year transformation program to modernize and replace almost every aspect of IT applications and infrastructure, we bonded over a shared passion for high-quality work that genuinely enabled the business teams to provide better service, maximize efficiency, and increase compliance.
We also learned we had shared the experience – time and again through our careers – of being disappointed by the consultants that we hired. Our choices were always between staffing firms that did not truly understand the business or technology needs and provided resources without the necessary skills and experience, and the so-called ‘best in class’ consulting firms that talked a good game and charged an arm and a leg, but who left without the client actually having achieved – or even being positioned to achieve – the results they needed.
We knew it didn’t have to be that way. We had each been consultants earlier in our careers and had delivered successful IT projects both then, and as leaders now. We also knew the talent was out there – people who were motivated by doing good work.
Fueled by our passion for delivering real results – and our disinterest in flashy slide decks – we decided to create Anoteros: the consulting firm we had always wanted to hire.

We use our experience leading IT departments to put ourselves in your shoes as the decision-maker. Our consultants bring real-world experience, often as IT and business leaders themselves. They have years of experience addressing complex problems and delivering real results. Contrary to most consulting firms, we believe strongly in finding a two-way match, giving our consultants an explicit choice of whether they join a particular project. We know that as the top talent in their field they have the pick of consulting firms to work for. We make sure they can work on projects that excite and challenge them – so when they join a project that needs their specific deep skills, it’s a win for everyone.
No two projects are exactly the same because no two organizations are exactly the same. We know when we were the client, we were frustrated by boilerplate solutions that didn’t account for the nuances of our business, our in-house team, or the internal organizational politics. Using technology to achieve your business goals needs an approach that works for you. We start with proven methodologies, but if your project needs something different, something creative, then we’ll adapt – without cutting corners.

As much as we love technology, we know that our business – just like yours – is about people.
